RIVULUS (Poey, 1860)

 

Scientific name: Rivulus   Family: Rivulidae     Class: Actinopterygii     Phylum: Chordata    Order: Cyprinodontiformes
 

Rivulus is the commonly used descriptive name for a large group of killifish found in South America, the Caribbean, and Central America.  In recent years, what once were all known as Rivulus have been divided into a number of separate genera each of which is documented below.  Rivulus also is a genus in this category containing only three species.
