APLOCHEILUS (McClelland, 1839)
 

Scientific name: Aplocheilus   Family: Aplocheilidae     Class: Actinopterygii     Phylum: Chordata    Order: Cyprinodontiformes
TYPE SPECIES:  Aplocheilus chrysostigmus  McClelland, 1839

     The genus Aplocheilus refers to a small group of fish that cover a wide area including Africa, Asia and the Indian Ocean.  Several of the species are in the hobby, but uncommon. Aplo. lineatus is one of the more widely distributed species.
