APHYOSEMION (Myers 1924)

 


Aphyosemion is a generic term for a large list of killifish species as well as one sub-genera and noted in a number of groups including Katethys, Diapteron, and others.  Within the Aphyosemion are a number of sub-genera also based on separate genetic groups.  These include Chromaphyosemion, Mesoaphyosemion, Scheelsemion, and others.  Each group will be segregated within this database.  The vast majority of species are considered to be mop or plant spawning killies. Most have a 2 to 3 week incubation period.
