AQUARIST INFORMATION

Fp. gardneri Lakoja – photograph by T.R. Grady

At times, the fish often referred to as Fundulopanchax gardneri may very well not be that particular species.  Over the years many locations and populations have come into the hobby under the designation of Fp. gardneri with a new collection location attached.

Many of these collections may well actually represent a different sub-grouping of similar species.

Currently, there are at least six separate groups recognized each having designated populations.

In general, any of the Fundulopanchax complex species can be spawned in top & bottom mops.  Egg incubation runs 18-21 days normally.  Some breeders prefer to place them on wet peat for up to six weeks.
