TYPE LOCALITY:  Near Gienma, Sierra Leone in the Mano, Moa and Sewa River drainages in southeasterm Sierra Leone as well as the Mano and Lofa rivers in western Liberia.

The habitat is swampy areas of rainforest brooks and streams.

Most breeders use top & bottom spawning mops and pick the eggs.  The alternative is to use fine leafed plants and allow the fry to grown in the breeding tank.   The eggs than are placed in small containers to inducate 14-1 days.   Adults are not predatory to the fry.

Infusoria is the preferred starter food.   When fry are large enough to take newly hatched brine shrimp, it becomes a staple.
