TYPE LOCALITY:  15 km north of Banfora, Burkina Faso.   The species is found around the Banfora, Burkina Faso region in slow moving streams under fallen leaves.  The banks of the waterways were overgrown with trees with only aquatic algae as vegetation.

Reports of spawing Acript. banforense indicate it is not a difficult species, beginners may want to wait until they have a little more experience.

The breeders were propagated in rainwater.  The tank contained heavy vegetation along with riccia and Java Moss and both top and bottom spawning mops were used.  Eggs took about 18 days to hatch and newly hatched brine shrimp worked as a first food.
