EPIPLATYS FASCIOLATUS FASCIOLATUS –                               Photograph by T.R. Grady

The type locality is Freetown, Sierra Lone.  This species is widespread through Sierra Leone and into coastal northern Liberia.

This species does not do as well with salt added to the tank and may well not reproduce *according to Hoedeman* in his book.

Epiplatys fasciolatus is considered a species well suited for beginners, easily bred using standard top spawning methods.  Water incubation is short about 14 days.
