AQUARIST INFORMATION

Epiplatys duboisi – Photograph by Johnny Jensen.

Epiplatys duboisi comes from a large distribution area in Zaire around the upper to mid-Zaire River drainage.  It is found in streams and small rivers in stagnant water over leaf and/or mud substrate.  Depth of the water was less than one foot.  It is sympatric with a number of Aphyosemion, Epiplatys as well as Adamas formosus.

Considered a sensitive species to any polution and regular water changes are suggested.

Generally, this species is not for beginners and even more advance breeders may have a hard time reproducing and maintaining this species.  The suggested setup is a tank heavily planted with Java Moss. Filtration should be a sponge filter.  Floating mops are recommended.   First foods for fry should be infusoria, particularly paramecium.
